The final online conference of project P.A.T.H. was successfully organized online by the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Greece on Monday 29th of March 2021. Representatives of all partners, officials from regional and local governance authorities, as well as special guests participated in the final conference of the project.

During the event partners had the chance to present the results of the project and discuss about the future valorization and sustainability actions. P.A.T.H project introduced newly developed digital tools for the promotion of thematic routes in Greece and Puglia. More than 1.500 points of interest and more than 50 thematic routes were selected for the intervention areas in Greece and in Italy. Hiking routes, mountain trails, wetland and coastal routes, historical and cultural paths, urban and rural routes in the Region of Western Greece, the Regional Nature Reserves of the Eastern Coast of Taranto and the National Park of Alta Murgia are enhanced through an integrated web-based multimedia platform.

The web-based platform aims at providing visitors the ability to select their preferred routes for hiking or driving, along with a map of main cultural and natural attractions. Among the main achievements of P.A.T.H. project was the definition of accessible routes for the disabled, the involvement of local stakeholders through targeted events.

A new web-based crowdfunding tool which aims at supporting in the future project ideas associated with the selected routes and points of interests in Greece and Italy has also been developed in the framework of project PATH. During the student contests that were held by the Region of Western Greece, the Regional Nature Reserve of the Eastern Coast of Taranto and the National Park of Alta Murgia, partners identified with the help of students three project ideas (1 in Greece and 2 in Italy) that will be promoted through the crowd-funding tool.

Representatives of the Municipalities of the Region of Western Greece highlighted the importance of the web-based platform as an integrated tool for the tourism promotion of their regions. The rector of the University of Patras, Mr. Christos Bouras and his colleagues expressed their interest in collaborating with the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Greece in order to support this initiative for its future valorization.
